Local Roots, Loyal Customers In 1956, when moonlighting was a common practice among policemen who needed a little extra cash to support their families, Livingston Police Officers Henry Small and Fred Rudin started S & R Electrical Services LLC, in their off-hours. They quickly built a team of fellow policemen working with them part-time. The business grew nicely over the years, with Henry's two sons, Hank and Allan, helping out during summers and school vacations.

Hank graduated from Gettysburg and followed his calling to coach college football. Younger son Allan, however, decided to stay with the business in which he'd grown up. Armed with a degree in economics from Guilford College and his electrical license, he bought the company in 1973.

In 2000, Allan's son Joshua joined the business. A graduate of Loyola University in Maryland with a degree in environmental science, Joshua earned his electrical license in 2007. Today, S & R Electrical Services LLC, remains a small family-run business that specializes in all aspects of residential wiring and lighting.
